Malware Overview

This Trojan may be downloaded from remote sites by other malware. It may also arrive bundled with malware packages as a malware component.

It arrives as a specially crafted JPG file that contains an embeded encrypted EXE file.

Trend Micro detects the embedded file as TROJ_AGENT.APEX. The said embedded file may be used to capture and transmit network packets.

It requires its dropper or downloader to decrypt the said embedded EXE file. It does not have the capability to decrypt and execute the said embedded file itself.
