This memory-resident worm affects systems that have AOL Instant Messenger (IM) installed and running.

To propagate via AOL IM, it checks for an open AOL IM application and accesses the contact list to get target recipients of the instant message it sends. The instant message offers a link where a copy of itself can be downloaded.
